CC Vancouver Island IN PERSON Gathering in Comox Valley, BC
Time & Location
About the Event
Hello Comox Valley CCers. My name is Jane Campbell and I’m the new Small Group Leader for the Comox Valley. Summer is here and it’s the perfect time for the first in-person small group gathering for CC members in Comox. This gathering is open to Comox Valley and area members and CC members visiting the Island who would like to attend. We will be meeting outside, at Filberg Park. Full details are below. Please bring a blanket or something to sit on if you are comfortable on the grass, or a lawn chair. We will be meeting under a large oak tree so we will have shade.
Because there is a wedding scheduled at the park in the afternoon, our gathering is planned for 11:00 to 1:00. Feel free to bring a bagged lunch or some snacks for yourself if you like. There is a small pop-up art fest starting at 1:00 if you are interested in taking that in afterward. There is also a beach nearby that you can go to after our gathering if you want to make more of your day. Members can gather informally at the beach. It will not be considered a CC gathering at that location. I will give directions to the beach when we meet.
This gathering is going to be a Meet ‘n Greet so we can get to know each other and I can learn from you what you what your interests are going forward. It will also be an opportunity to share, with like-minded community, what is front and forward for you as we navigate these unprecedented times. We will begin with a short centering to bring us all fully present in the circle, discuss ideas for the group going forward, then we will move on to the sharing portion of our gathering.
I look forward to meeting all of you as we launch the Comox Valley CC Group. Here are the details:
When: July 24, 2021
Time: 11:00 to 1:00
Where: Filberg Park, 61 Filberg Rd., Comox (photos and directions below as street sign is hard to see)
What to bring: water, snacks if desired, blanket or chair
To get to Filberg Park, drive along Comox Ave. all the way through town until it makes a sharp turn to the left. Filberg Rd. is on the right, just at the corner where the road turns. Instead of going around the corner, veer to the right, onto Filberg Rd. There is a blue sign on the right side, just before Filberg Rd. as a landmark. See the photo below.
There is also a photo of Gate 1 where you enter the park, and a photo of the big oak tree you see as you enter the park. If you look to the left from the tree, there is another large oak in the far corner, which is where we will gather.
Please allow a little extra time for parking. There is parking just past the park gate and down the first street to the right after the park. If you can’t find parking, you can go back onto Comox Ave. and park in town. It’s only a 5 minute walk from the Mill Café or Bentinos to the park. There are also side streets where you can park. Most parking is free for 2 hours.
Our rain date will be Sunday, the 25th, same time and location.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions.
